Sunday Night Worship

We did our first Sunday evening worship service at Bangkok Christian Guest House last night. It was great! It exceeded my expectations by a long shot. First of all - we were expecting 10-15 people. Those of us who put it together said that if turnout was less than 10, we'd be disappointed, more than 15 would be a pleasant surprise. More than 20 would be amazing. I think we counted 26! That's about double what I thought it would be.

The atmosphere worked well. We struggled with where to put it. The chapel? A meeting room? Dave and I settled on the lounge. It had just the right effect. A casual, living-room type atmosphere.

Mark did a great job with the music! If you read this and pray for this church, you can join us in praying that God bless this experiment. We committed to four Sunday evening services in December. If they go well, we'll do it again for Lent (February/March). If that goes well, I don't see any reason why we wouldn't make it a weekly service.

For those of you in big churches, perhaps this seems like we are starting small. Yes, we are. And we like it that way! :) We are looking for more musicians though....
