Wouldn't it be great to find joy even in bad times?

Our new sermon series kicked off Sunday. We're going to be looking at living more joyfully over the next few weeks. Here's a link to the first sermon in the series. It's focus is on Joy in the midst of difficulties.

Here are some highlights from Sunday.

* Den and Reggie finally played together (Guitar and Piano) and it was Brilliant. Loved it. If we can do that more often, it's going to really improve our Sunday morning worship services. :)

* Great joy in getting to know Russ a bit better after church over lunch.

* Loved seeing old friends and making new ones.

* I was a bit disappointed (again) at the poor treatment we get from our landlord in the morning. There were thousands of Boy Scouts positioned strategically in space we have reserved and pay for. They ask us to be flexible because it's "special circumstances" but there a "special circumstances" on average twice a month... and they are always a surprise. It's becoming a bigger and bigger problem.

* I hope I didn't make anyone too upset with my joke about Robert Green the English goalie. Paul was in jail, separated from family and friends, abandoned by his ministry partners... but at least he isn't Robert Green! :) Always look on the bright side of life.

* Evening Worship (as usual) was just a joy.

* We had a great time at the pub afterwards too watching World Cup and just hanging out. I did take a risk announcing that we were all going to the pub after church. Can you announce that in church? You can in ours.

* Then Rod came up after the worship all serious. Saying "You said something tonight that really brought me joy." I was thinking it was some profound biblical insight he'd never seen before. Then he said, "You announced we be going to the pub." :-(   #FAIL

* Ghana won though. And we were all happy.
