Jesus vs

A couple of weeks ago I started a new sermon series called Jesus vs.... The idea is that you can learn a lot about a person by the kinds of things he/she comes into conflict with. Jesus is no different. So we are taking a few chapters from the middle of the book of Luke. Sort of average days in the life and ministry of Jesus. And we are looking at some of the things he came into conflict with. Here are the first three sermons.

We've also started putting downloadable mp3s available on the ICB Website. (Thanks to Margaret)

We had a really good time at church yesterday in the morning and in the evening. Here are some highlights.

* Nee and Peter's Baptisms. It's always a joy to Baptize! Please pray for both Nee and Peter. I find that immediately AFTER baptism people usually face some sort of spiritual challenge. Pray also for Nee's niece who is interested in being baptized.
* We had almost 50 people attend the after-church lunch! And it was a really good time had by all.
* It was great to have Mark and Smitha lead worship together in the evening. And great to have Mark back. He really carried us through the first couple of years in the evening worship.
* And we had an amazing crowd last night. We haven't seen a crowd like that since before the April-May protests in 2010. I think I saw a guy sitting on the table in the back of the room!
* It's a joy to be reminded (and be the reminder) of Jesus' full humanity and full divinity. We live in a world and I live a life where I really do need a Savior who sympathizes with my human tendencies... AND has the power (full divinity) to transform me and our world. What about you?
