Lack of focus can be dangerous

I had an enjoyable lunch appointment today. We talked about God and spirituality. It was a "fun" conversation. Then I went out and caught a cab. Shortly after we took off - I noticed that the cab driver had one of those car DVD players. But it wasn't positioned for the passengers. It was positioned for him to watch. So as we zipped down the crowded Bangkok streets... Asok, Rama IV. Yikes! When driving in Bangkok it is absolutely essential to pay attention to the road. There are cars, buses, bicycles, motorcycles, people walking, carts, mobile restaurants, trash carts... most of them are going with the flow of traffic, but some are sneaking down a lane against traffic. And this guy is watching a comedy on DVD.

You know that's how some of us live our lives. It takes a lot of focus to live a God centered, God glorifying life. But many of us entertain all kinds of distractions that we think are harmless but really take us off course. What things in your life distract you off of God? What encourages you and what discourages you? Perhaps you should consider why you don't just shut them off.
