A fun Sunday

Here is a link to the sermon from Sunday.

This Sunday started off on the wrong foot. Our outreach partner showed up late. They were supposed to open the service which starts at 10am. So we asked them to arrive at 9:30am. At 10am they were nowhere to be found. This kind of thing always throws me off a bit. Not just because they were supposed to open the service, but also because they had a 10 minutes in the service to talk, share testimonies and perform. I was a little worried.

But then at 10:20 they arrived. Just in time for the main part of their time. Whew! Close call.

It would have really been a shame if we'd missed it because the ministry is really neat. It's the Thai Faith and Music Foundation (or Thai Thai Church). They incorporate Traditional Music and Dance into Christian worship. And that's their hook for outreach in the community.

They work in a variety of slums in Bangkok. Offer after school tutoring and classes in music and dance. It is a great example of gospel inculturation (started by God with John 1:1 when "the Word became flesh"). I'll try to post a video of some of their stuff later this week (plus a really cool story of a young girl who had the courage to confront a monk!!!).

The rest of the worship service was fun. And that extended into the rest of the day.

Enjoyed making new friends from church over lunch. Had a short break. Then went for evening worship.

Jack brought his piano skills and although we got off to a late start, things got rolling and we had a blast. Also had some great news as part of that - Amy talked the Guest House into letting us put up a permanent sign on the street. This will greatly increase our exposure in the community. Perhaps I'll put her to work on getting one at the BCC Campus too. :P
