How to pray in a crisis

Here's the sermon from today.

It was a pretty great Lord's day.

(1) I think this was the third week in a row we have more than 10 voices in our morning choir. That's a huge improvement.

(2) Saw a couple of old friends (not people who are old, but people who've been away from BKK for sometime.

(3) Connected with some new friends in the evening.

(4) Another night with attendance up close to 50 or more. That's huge because we are back up to before the riots levels. Next step... expand / advance the kingdom.

(5) Really excited about the October retreat. We are slightly over capacity and feeling great about  that. AND almost everyone has very respectfully paid when asked. No chasing money!!! Yeah.

(6) It is true that my comfort in times us stress is junk food. But it's not true that it's cake. It's actually chocolates. Don't know why I said cake. I'm glad I don't turn to alcohol or drugs. I know too many people that do and as bad as cake is for you, too much booze and/or drugs can do you much worse. Paul gives an alternative in times of stress (Phil 4:4-7). Instead of the stress you can have the peace of God. How? Prayer, petition with thanksgiving and "presenting".

(7) Presenting is more about revealing our true selves to God. Do you do that in your prayers? Or do you just give up the surface stuff?

God bless.
