Beware of false teachers

The family and I attended Lowcountry Community Church on Sunday. Sorry last week for refering to it as Hilton Head Island Community Church.

We attended there last year while on the island. It was fun to be back. The pastor preached about being wary of teachers claiming to be Christian, but preaching something less than the full gospel.

He indicated a couple of 'tests' to tip us off when preachers have gone astray.

The first and most important was when the diety of Christ is not proclaimed. Todd didn't spell this out, but this is one of the most significant heresies of our time. Lots of people preaching Jesus as a great teacher, a great moral leader and inspiration, but not necessarily the Son of God.

Another point that was interesting and really good was that false teaching often tears down the church instead of building up.

Really enjoyed the service.

One thing I did learn new was that last week in Maine, Jake learned nothing about God. He only learned about ice cream and bubble gum. I suspect this week, he learned something about the Bible.
