A Christian's Role In Bangkok's Next Step

Sunday was the Christian celebration of the birth of the church. The story of how it happened has a really powerful message and challenge for Christians today living in Bangkok where the church can be re-born. Here's the sermon.

Here are some further thoughts from Sunday.

(1) 9am meeting regarding Christian Education was needed. Productive. Looking forward to hearing the results in the coming days. We have a GREAT surprise coming next Sunday as a result!

(2) 10am Worship exceeded expectations in almost every way. It was soooo good to see a good crowd. In case you don't pay attention to Thailand, we've been experiencing over two months of major anti-government protests. This has cramped our style 'cause some folks have not been able to join us in church. I would say "most" folks were back Sunday.

(3) Evening Worship was small again this week, but sweet. Next week we'll be back at our regular time and location which should have a big impact on our attendance. Looking forward to seeing everyone NEXT SUNDAY.

(4) Appreciating all those who make it happen.

(5) Church Leadership meeting yesterday was also very encouraging. The people serving in Intl Churches' leadership are second to none. A real first class group of folks!

(6) The sermon yesterday was tricky. The country is divided politically. Challenging folks to work constructively in the midst of that for Christ.

(7) I believe we have some real opportunities as Christians right now to be voices for constructive reconciliation. But it will require a few things. Courage. Wisdom. And opening our mouths and lives.

(8) The disciples didn't run away when the violent wind hit them at Pentecost. Neither should we.

(9) Because they didn't run away, the Holy Spirit showed up. The church was born. And the world was changed.

(10) The miracle wouldn't have happened if they'd run away OR if they'd kept their mouths shut.

(11) They talked about the "wonders of God". We need to identify and talk about the wonders of God in this time.

(12) Show love for someone today that you might not normally go out of your way for.

Grace and peace. I'm off to take a day off.
