8 ways the Holy Spirit works in your ministry

This list was originally compiled for preachers and some of it probably only relates to preachers, but most of it could be applied to any Christian life. Anyway - here are eight ways the Holy Spirit needs to work in our ministry (according to Charles Spurgeon).

(1) The Holy Spirit leads us in knowledge. He especially instructs us in things about Jesus.
(2) He gives us wisdom. Wisdom is using knowledge well.
(3) He gives us words. Spurgeon refers back to the call of Isaiah in chapter 6 and talks about the "live coal from off the altar, touching our lips...." Good stuff.
(4) He empowers the entire delivery of a sermon. The Spirit gives us a spirit of sympathy for our hearers rather than judgment.
(5) He causes the effect of the gospel. Can't ever forget this. We do not cause anyone to be converted. God does.
(6) He helps us pray. I loved this line. Some of us (who are your examples) pray, "not as a duty but as an instinct".
(7) He empowers holiness.
(8) The Spirit provides discernment for dealing with difficult people.

This is a great list to remember and ask God's Spirit to fulfil in our lives.
