Happy New Year!

Songkran, the Thai New Years holiday is over now. It's a huge water fight over the entire country! Lots of fun and very dangerous. There are people children AND ADULTS all over town having water fights. They are carrying buckets, toy water guns, super soakers, etc.... People are standing on the side of the road with hoses spraying cars, buses and motorbikes (did I mention dangerous!). Anyway, lots of fun.

We had a small and quiet service on Sunday. Since I knew I would be traveling during the week I asked a friend to preach. He did. And it was a blessing. He talked about doubt and how Thomas overcame his skepticism. Made an interesting point comparing Thomas' journey in John 20 to the scientific method. Very interesting. It was a great image.

I am looking forward to preaching again on Sunday and this is going to be a great weekend. We've got friends from the Thai Thai Church coming. They will do music and dance incorportating Thai cultural elements into Christian worship. Really looking forward to it.

I'm preaching from 1 Corinthians 1 about how the gospel seems like foolishness to those who don't believe, but that it's amazingly beautiful (salvation) for those of us that do. This will be a great sermon for folks who are unsure about where they stand in faith.
