Monday Thoughts

It's Monday morning and here are a few things running through my head (mostly from yesterday)...

* I finished a three part sermon series yesterday on "God and Money". It was tense! Any time you go around asking questions about how people manage their money it gets tense. Why is that?
* Malcolm did a great Children's Lesson. I ended up with two pieces of Chocolate. That's the mark of a great lesson.
* Our evening service was PACKED. I'm guessing we went over the 40 person mark. We had 30 seats set out with 10 in the back just in case. And we had to bring in more from the closet. And that didn't count the kids playing in the nursery. We ALMOST had to put people in the front row (not counted in the seat total).
* Some of us went to Suan Rot Fai (Train Park) after morning worship. It was a blast. Too bad more people didn't take advantage. Maybe we'll do it again.
* Lots of people are increasing their financial pledges this year. We are seeing individual averages over 10% increase. That's awesome. We are almost 50% to our pledge goal. In a lot of churches that would be time for panic. At ICB we are WAY AHEAD of schedule.
* Looking forward to two morning worship services during ADVENT (starts this Sunday 30 November and runs through Sunday 21 December). We'll have a 9am Contemporary and a 10:30am Traditional. Please pray that we hit double digits for attendance in the early service. It's a terrible time and has the built in disadvantage of not having children's programming. We are expecting 5-10 people. It's an experiment.
* Also we announced yesterday that we WILL do Christmas Caroling on the River this year. Saturday 20 December. Boat will leave at 4:30 and return by 7pm. Email office@icbangkok.org for details and RSVP.
* Pray for me. I need to have a conversation with someone that I don't want to have. And it needs to happen today.
