How do you listen to voices from the margins?

One of the things that we learn when we study the life of John the Baptist is that he was pretty crazy. Just the kind of person who would be marginalized today. But God chose to speak through him. In fact, God used John to announce the coming of Jesus. What if God chose to speak through someone like John today? Most of us would miss it because we don't listen to people like John. That's the gist of this week's sermon.

Here are some of the highlights from Sunday.

*Great to see Dennis and Lulu Shanks in town. We don't see them much, but you can tell when they are around what wonderful people they are. Former members.
*Great to have Jhon playing the drums Sunday.
*Great to have an African Choir, but how come more of our African members weren't present?
*Smitha did a solo act leading worship in the evening and it was great.
*We videoed the evening service. Thanks Lance. I think I messed it up though when I asked the videographer to sit down. He asked to sit in the front and film. I said, "fine, just stay seated and out of the way." And then in the middle of the sermon, he stood up to film... blocking my vision of half the congregation.
*Please pray that my kids don't grow up to be like John the Baptist. I don't want them eating bugs and honey and wandering in the desert. ^-^
*Do you ever feel like you don't fit in? John the Baptist is good news for you. He didn't fit in anywhere.

Grace and peace.
